A little about us

E-mail Print PDF
At St. John's, McAllen, we are a growing, energetic family of Episcopalians, using the Bible as a guide for life. Our church was founded in 1947 and opened St. John's Episcopal Day School in 1958. The church and school continue to grow today, welcoming new families and individuals while remaining a place for fellowship and worship for our parishioners.

Our mission is to "encourage all people to become devoted followers of Christ." We welcome everyone in the community who wants to practice their Christian faith or learn about God.

Our Beliefs
St. John's Episcopal Church is a parish of The Diocese of West Texas. As such, our rector serves under the direction of The Rt. Rev. Gary Lillibridge in San Antonio. Our beliefs can be summarized in the creeds recited during services of worship: The Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed. Both of these can be found in The Book of Common Prayer (1979).
