Christian Education at St. John's

At St. John's Episcopal Church, we are committed to Christian Education for all ages.  We offer regularly scheduled classes Sunday morning and Wednesday evening.  Additionally there are many other opportunities for education including Bible studies and small group book discussion groups. 

Sunday Mornings

We offer classes for all ages.

Children

St John's offers FaithRangers for children in pre-school to 5th grade.  Children will participate in fun workshops that will teach them classic Bible stories and principles.  These classes meet each Sunday at 10:10.

Jr. High

6th & 7th graders at St. John's will participate in Active Bible Studies during classes on Sunday mornings. This is an interactive Bible Study designed specifically  for Jr. High students.

St. John's offers Confirmation classes for youth in 8th grade. As part of this course, they study the history, structure and beliefs of the Episcopal Church. In alternating years, 7th & 8th graders participating in the Confirmation class travel to Washington D.C. to participate in services and tour the National Cathedral. At the conclusion of their 8th grade year, Confirmation services are held for the participants.

High School

High School students will participate in 36 Parables during classes on Sundays. This is a contemporary video and discussion class designed to engage high school students.

Adult Class

Fr. John & Fr. Philip will facilitate Faith Lessons on the Prophets & Kings of Israel.


Weekdays

Bible Studies
St. John's sponsors several Bible studies that meet at various times and locations. For information about these groups, please contact the church office or check the schedule here.

The Bible and the Businessman (Tuesdays @ 7:30 AM)
This Bible study is designed for all business folks.  It meets every Tuesday morning at 7:30AM.  Breakfast & coffee are provided. Discussions and reflections will be based on the book Lead Like Jesus.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study (Tuesdays @ 9:00 AM)

Fr. Philip facilitates discussion and reflection Bible study every Tuesday morning in the Library.

Beth Moore Bible Study (Thursdays @ 9:00 AM)

This class is an indepth study of the life of Jesus, based on the book of Luke. This 11 week study includes personal assignments and weekly sessions which will view Beth's video sessions taped on location in Jerusalem and throughout Israel. Come along with Beth on a life-changing journey which will lead you through the hills of Galilee with the Teacher, and finally , on the road toward the cross with the Savior.

Online Bible Study

For all of you who would like to do a Bible or book study, but find that you do not have the time, Fr. Philip will be starting an online course, beginning the week of  September 20th.  St. John’s website will host an online discussion of the book “Devotional Classics” by Richard Foster, which is an introduction to an assortment of great Christian devotional writers.  If you are interested please contact the church office to get a book and a login i.d.
